ELC Members of JEC Successfully Organise Youth Parliament at the College-  28 September 2025

Jabalpur Engineering College hosted a Youth Parliament on 28 September 2025 to promote voter awareness and strengthen democratic values among students, as directed by the District Election Office. The event was organised by the college’s Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) under the Special, Comprehensive, and Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign. The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp and was presided over by the Principal, Dr Rajeev Chandak. In his address, he emphasised that the strength of a nation is closely linked to the strength of its democracy and highlighted the role of youth in safeguarding democratic values. The Chief Guest, Shri Pramod Srivastava, District Coordinator (SVEEP), Jabalpur, appreciated the initiative and described it as an important step toward increasing youth participation in India’s democratic process

Dr. Kamal Kumar  Kushwah, Head of the Department of Applied Physics, Dean (Research & Innovation), and a Member of the Jabalpur District Implementation Committee, explained that the programme aimed to develop leadership skills, improve understanding of parliamentary proceedings, and enhance students’ communication abilities. The students followed a constitutional structure and conducted the Youth Parliament smoothly, showing how public representatives discuss public issues while maintaining discipline and decorum in the House.

The proceedings were evaluated by a jury comprising Dr Shilpa Saxena ( Dean, Students' Welfare), Dr Manju Tiwari, Dr Bhavna Singh, and Prof. Pradeep Kumar Yadav. Beyond the parliamentary session, faculty members and guests took part in a civic action initiative by planting 50 saplings in the college’s Vidyavan. This activity was conducted under the Save Our Pakhawada and Swachhata Abhiyan, with the slogan “Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam”. Dr D. S. Rawat played a key role in this plantation drive.

The programme was smoothly coordinated by ELC Nodal Coordinator Dr Durgesh Nandini, along with Prof. Pradeepti Lakra, and concluded successfully with active participation from students and faculty alike.
