The department of Applied Mathematics was established in 1947 along with the Inception of this institution. The beautiful Gokalpur lake provides a natural background for this department. It has a large building space about 1611 sq. m. The department has a well equipped modern Computer lab and Fuzzy Technology lab. Growing steadily, today the department not only teaches various courses in pure and applied mathematics to undergraduate and post graduate students of different engineering and Applied Sciences but also runs its own M. Sc. course in Applied Mathematics.

          This department is a recognized centre of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalay, Bhopal for research work leading to Ph. D. degree in different branches of pure and Applied Mathematics.

          The faculty members are well qualified with specialization of varied topics like Nonlinear Functional Analysis, Special Function, Fuzzy Topology, Integral Transform, Operations Research and Graph Theory.

          The department has so far produced over 55 Ph. D. and published over 450 research papers in journals of National and International repute. This reflects active involvement of faculty in the field of research work. The department of Applied Mathematics also has expertise in various field of Computer Science and therefore several subjects of this field are being taught by the teacher of this department specifically in Optimization techniques, Fuzzy logic, Fuzzy control Theory, Soft computing and Computer graphic. The faculty members have successfully organized National and International conferences, short term courses, workshops in Applied Mathematics, Numerical Optimization techniques, Neural security, Soft computing and intelligent systems.
