JEC's 78th Foundation Day: Commemorating Legacy and Growth with the Launch of Vidyavan Abhiyan, 7 July 2024

The 78th Foundation Day celebration of Jabalpur Engineering College took place on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the college campus. This significant event celebrated another year of excellence for JEC and featured the launch of Vidyavan, a plantation drive under the Vidyavan Abhiyan initiative, on the college premises. The program was marked by the presence of Er. Ghanshyam Shukla, Provincial President, and Er M.S Gujral, President of JECAA, along with several notable Alumni. The programme commenced with the auspicious Saraswati Pooja, a ritual to invoke the blessings of the Goddess of knowledge, music, art, and wisdom. Respected alumni, the  Principal, Dr Bhavna Jhariya and the faculty then garlanded the statues of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, revered as the Father of Engineering in India, and Professor S.P. Chakravarty, the esteemed founder of the college. This act of garlanding was not just ceremonial; it was a profound expression of gratitude and reverence towards these visionaries whose contributions have significantly shaped the college's legacy in the field of engineering education.

Aligned with the government's directive to establish a Vidyavan in every college, JEC's celebrations included a symbolic Tree Plantation Ceremony as the inception of their Vidyavan. The creation of Vidyavan parallels the founding of JEC: both fostering development and excellence. It highlighted the hope and expectation that JEC will continue to grow in academic strength and reputation, much like a well-rooted tree spreading its leaves upward and outward. Approximately twenty neem saplings around the Jashan Auditorium. These neem saplings were generously provided by Shri Yogesh Ganore, Founder of ‘Kadam Sanstha’, and coordinated by Shri Pankaj Goswami, Kadam’s coordinator.

Dr. Bhavna Jhariya, an alumna of JEC, spoke of her deep appreciation for the college and her commitment to upholding its values. Program coordinator Dr. Kamal Kumar Kushwaha presented JEC’s journey from its modest beginnings to becoming a leading institution in engineering education. The dignitaries reflected on the milestones achieved over the years, while Dr. Kamal Kumar Kushwaha and Prof. D.S. Rawat played key roles in executing the day’s events. Dr. Jhariya also ensured that the tribute to Dr. Chakravarti and the launch of Vidyavan Abhiyan embodied JEC’s motto, “Onwards on Wings,” and supported the government’s vision to introduce Vidyavan in every college
