Honouring the Heroes: Kargil Vijay Diwas at JEC: 26 July 2025

Jabalpur Engineering College observed Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26 July 2025 to honour the martyrs of the Kargil War. The programme, organised under the thoughtful initiative of Principal Dr. Rajeev Chandak, was attended by faculty members and students. The event began with the lighting of candles by Dr. Chandak in memory of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. In his address, he provided a brief background of the Kargil War, fought between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir.

He highlighted the significance of Operation Vijay and made a special reference to some of the war heroes, including Captain Vikram Batra, the “Yeh Dil Maange More” hero of Point 4875; Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey, who captured Jubar Top; and Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav the hero of the Tiger Hill assault. Dr. Chandak also mentioned the success of Operation Sindoor, acknowledging the courage and dedication of the Indian Armed Forces.

The programme included poetry recitations by students dedicated to the soldiers and heartfelt reflections on their sacrifices. Students Pavitra Pandey, Akriti Raina, Radhika Sahu, Prarthana Kanojiya, among others, expressed their views on the occasion, sharing their thoughts on the valour of the soldiers. The observance aimed to instil a sense of patriotism among students and to remind them of the supreme sacrifices made by the armed forces in safeguarding the nation.
