JEC Commemorates National Sports Day: A Tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, 29- 30 August 2025
Jabalpur Engineering College celebrated National Sports Day on 29th and 30th August 2025 to honour the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The celebration reminded students of the importance of sports for fitness, discipline, teamwork, and overall growth. As per the directives of the Madhya Pradesh Government Technical Education, Skill Development, and Employment Department, various activities were organised, including volleyball, basketball, rope jumping, rope pulling, and chess. Students participated with great enthusiasm and especially enjoyed the rope-pulling event, which created much excitement. The program was coordinated by Prof. D.C. Rahi and Dr. Bhavna Singh, with active support from co-coordinators Prof. Vikrant Patel, Dr Sumit Rai, Prof Pratibha Mehra and supporting staff Shri Sahdev Rajak
A special highlight of the celebration was the participation of Principal Dr. Rajeev Chandak, Professor Dr. P.K. Jhinge, Dr Kamal Kumar Kushwaha, and Prof D.C Rahi, who joined the students in the chess competition. Their gracious gesture of playing alongside the students added depth to the event. Witnessing their respected professors take part in the games motivated the students to value sports as an essential part of education and encouraged them to actively balance academics with physical activities.
On this occasion, Dr Rajeev Chandak addressed the gathering and shared an inspiring message. He highlighted that sports are not only for enjoyment but also play a vital role in building character, confidence, and leadership qualities. He encouraged students to participate actively in both academics and sports for their overall development.
The celebration concluded successfully, honouring the legacy of Major Dhyan Chand and motivating students to embrace sports as an integral part of life. The orders of the Madhya Pradesh Government were strictly followed under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rajeev Chandak. The dedicated efforts of the coordinators and the enthusiastic participation of students made the event lively and enjoyable for all.
