"Understanding Mental Health": An Initiative by JEC’s Mental Health Task Force 22 January 2026
In a thoughtful initiative to support students’ mental well-being, Jabalpur Engineering College organised a mental health awareness session on 22 January 2026 under the state government’s program to reduce rising stress among young students. The session, titled “Understanding Mental Health,” featured an insightful lecture by Ms Samriddhi Baghel, a trained psychologist and counsellor from The Connect Hut, Mumbai, who shared valuable guidance on emotional health and stress management.
Nearly 200 students attended the session and actively participated in the discussion. The programme was initiated by Principal Dr Rajeev Chandak and Vice Principal Dr A. K. Kori, whose deep care and concern for students’ mental well-being guided this initiative. Their constant support showed their strong belief that students’ mental health is just as important as academic success, making the programme meaningful and smoothly organised.

The event was organised by the Mental Health Task Force Committee, comprising Dr Shilpa Saxena (Dean Student Welfare) as Coordinator, along with Dr Mamta Lambert (HOD, Department of Information Technology), Dr Kamal Kumar Kushwah (HOD, Department of Applied Physics) and Dr Preeti Jain as members. The programme was further supported by dedicated student volunteers Raunak, Monika, Asha, Saurabh, Vidushi, and others, whose efforts contributed greatly to its successful organisation.
The session helped students understand the importance of mental health and gave them the confidence to share their feelings. It was a positive step towards building a caring, supportive, and healthy campus.
