National Conference on “Technological Innovations in Engineering Science for Sustainable Development”: 5-6 December 2024

The Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering at Jabalpur Engineering College successfully organised a two-day National Conference on “Technological Innovations in Engineering Science for Sustainable Development” on 5–6 December 2024. The event brought together around 150 participants, including 120 registered attendees and 25 ME students, from various disciplines of science and engineering across the country. The conference was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Guest Shri Ashok Ishwardas Rohani, MLA, Jabalpur Cantt, who delivered an inspiring speech connecting India’s cultural heritage with scientific advancement. Guest of Honour Dr. C.P. Gupta, Professor at IIT Roorkee, presented the keynote address on renewable energy as a tool to combat climate change. Another keynote speaker, Dr. G.C. Manna, Ex-CGM, BSNL, spoke on the development of a sustainable techno-business model for broadband services in rural India

Over the two days, the conference featured two keynote addresses, four lead talks (including two in online mode), and four technical sessions. Experts such as Dr. Santosh Vishwakarma (IIT Indore), Dr. Suresh Vishwakarma (Senior Engineer, Canada), Dr. Bhaarti Dass (JNKVV), and Dr. Tanuja Sheorey (IIITDM Jabalpur) delivered insightful talks on topics ranging from AI chips and food sustainability to smart cities and cooling technologies for processorsTwenty-two researchers presented papers on topics like explainable AI, 6G, sustainable communication, and e-waste management, with two participants joining virtually. Sessions were interactive, with active engagement from students and experts offering constructive feedback. A souvenir featuring 25 research abstracts was also released during the event.

The event was convened by Dr. Bhavna Jharia, Prof & HOD Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engg, with Dr. Kanchan Cecil and Dr. Namrata Sahayam as co-coordinators. The department expressed gratitude to Principal Dr. P.K. Jhinge and Dr Rajeeev Chandak for their support, as well as to the invited experts, faculty, staff, students, and all participants for making the conference a success.
