Saluting the Constitution: JEC Celebrates Republic Day with Pride – 26 January 2025
Jabalpur Engineering College (JEC) celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great enthusiasm, patriotic spirit, and national pride, bringing together students, faculty, and staff to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. Ahead of the day, the college building was adorned with tri-colour lighting, creating a patriotic atmosphere. The flag unfurling ceremony, led by Principal Dr. Rajeev Chandak, was a moment of collective pride, followed by the national anthem. In his address, Dr. Chandak reflected on the historic significance of Republic Day, reminding all that the Constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950 after being dedicated to the nation by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on 26 January 1949. Drafted over 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days, it remains the world’s largest written constitution, upholding justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for all citizens.
Dr. Chandak highlighted the college’s achievements over the past six months, congratulating the Electrical Engineering Department for organising two academic seminars, the Electronics Department for conducting a National Conference, and the Mathematics Department for celebrating National Mathematics Day with a one-day event. He proudly shared that on 25 January 2025, two faculty members were honored by the Honourable Collector of Jabalpur for promoting voter awareness during the 15th National Voter’s Day. The timely work of the Examination Section and Evaluation Department was appreciated, while a Computer Science faculty member’s Best Paper Award at IIIT Bangalore and Mechatronics students’ first-place win at a competition by Atomberg Company at IIIT Madras were also lauded. Concluding with an inspiring Sanskrit shloka — “Kak chesta bako dhyanam, shwan nidra tathaiwa cha Alpahaari grihtyaagi Vidyarthi pancha lakshnam” ("A student should have the eagerness of a crow, the focus of a heron, the light sleep of a dog, be a light eater, and be detached from household matters.")— Dr. Chandak urged students to cultivate these five virtues to excel personally and contribute to national progress
A tree plantation drive on campus reflected JEC’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The National Flag was hoisted at both the main campus and hostel with active participation from students, staff, and faculty. As part of the celebrations, the Mulnivasi Vidyarthi Sangh and BAMSEF jointly organised a Republic Day program for the second consecutive year at Jashan Auditorium, fully supported by Dr. Chandak, faculty, and students. A series of cultural performances showcased India’s rich heritage and were appreciated by Dr. Chandak himself. The overall celebration at JEC honoured the foundational principles of the Indian Constitution and reflected the college’s ongoing commitment to national development
