Jabalpur Engineering College Hosts "National CyberShield Hackathon 2025": 11 September 2025
The "National CyberShield Hackathon 2025" was successfully held at Jabalpur Engineering College (JEC) on 11 September 2025 under the aegis of the Madhya Pradesh Police and the State Cyber Cell Headquarters, with the active collaboration of the State Bank of India and Clear Trial Technology. The event was inaugurated by the Director General of Police, Shri Atul Singh, the Superintendent of Police, Shri Sampat Upadhyay, and the Principal of JEC, Dr. Rajeev Chandak. The hackathon was organised to ensure active youth participation in developing preventive measures against the rising cases of cybercrime. With the rapid growth of digital platforms, online banking, and social media, crimes such as digital theft, cyber fraud, online scams, and internet misuse have become serious challenges. The main objective of the event was not only to promote technical innovation but also to encourage students to use their knowledge and creativity to solve real-world problems related to digital safety and security. By providing this platform, the organisers aimed to prepare students as contributors to a safer and more secure cyber ecosystem.
The competition received an overwhelming response, with 160 technical institutions from across the country taking part. Students, working in teams, presented modern software and apps designed to combat cybercrimes. Some of the innovative ideas included AI-based software to block online transactions in cases of digital arrest, tools for detecting real-time bank fraud, systems to trace internet protocol (IP) records, and solutions to stop fake banking apps and money laundering. Teams also developed applications to curb illegal drug trading on digital platforms, handle false bomb threats sent through emails, and tackle cyber challenges related to social media misuse. The results of the competition were highly encouraging. A private engineering college from Jabalpur secured the first prize for their outstanding proposal, while teams from Tamil Nadu and Delhi won the second and third prizes, respectively. The winning entries were praised for their originality, technical strength, and practical usefulness in supporting both citizens and law enforcement agencies in fighting cybercrime
The hackathon concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners. Overall, the "National CyberShield Hackathon 2025" was a major step in connecting students with real-world challenges and inspiring them to create impactful solutions. It not only gave young innovators a chance to showcase their talent but also generated new ideas to make the internet safer for all. The event was a proud moment for Jabalpur Engineering College, demonstrating the role of youth in building a secure digital future for the nation. The success of the event was the result of the encouraging guidance of Principal Dr Rajeev Chandak, who motivated students to excel, along with the dedicated efforts of Coordinator Ms Agya Mishra, HOD (Department of Artificial Intelligence), who ensured the event was conducted smoothly.
