Teachers’ Day Recognition: JEC Faculty Felicitated for ELC Initiatives- 5 September 2025

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the SVEEP branch of the Collector and District Election Officer, Jabalpur, launched a unique initiative to honour Outstanding ELC Teachers for their remarkable contributions to education and civic awareness. As part of this celebration on 5 September 2025, Jabalpur Engineering College witnessed a proud moment when Principal Dr. Rajeev Chandak and professors Dr. Shilpa Saxena, Dr. Kamal Kumar Kushwaha, Dr. Durgesh Nandini and Dr. Atul Sharma were felicitated by the Collector and District Election Officer. They were recognised for their consistent and dedicated efforts in strengthening democratic values and promoting civic awareness through the impactful activities of the ELC Club of JEC.

An Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) is a platform to engage college students in interesting activities related to their electoral rights and to familiarise them with the process of registration and voting. Throughout the year, the ELC Club carried out a series of impactful activities that were highly appreciated at both the institutional and district levels. Among these were several poster competitions and  Nukkad Nataks (street plays), which promoted civic responsibility and encouraged young voters to cast their votes fairly and choose the right candidate for a strong democracy. 

The Club also organised hands-on workshops to guide students in the process of making voter ID cards, ensuring they understood the necessary procedures and documentation. In addition, awareness lectures were hosted by the District SVEEP Officer, which helped students gain deeper insight into the significance of voter identity and the broader importance of active democratic participation

 In recognition of these efforts, the professors were presented with the Outstanding ELC Teacher Award and received certificates of appreciation. This honour not only acknowledged their achievements but also encouraged them, along with the students of JEC, to continue their journey of excellence in education, civic responsibility, and social contribution.
