JEC Hosts Inter-Branch Hackathon “Ragnarök” on January 28, 2026
The Inter-Branch Hackathon titled “Ragnarök” was successfully organised by Google Developer Groups – GDG JEC at Jabalpur Engineering College (JEC) on January 28, 2026. The primary objective of the hackathon was to encourage students to develop innovative and technology-based solutions addressing college-level and broader societal issues. The event saw active participation from over 100 students representing various departments and academic years, including first-year students, reflecting widespread enthusiasm and engagement within the student community. The hackathon was conducted in three phases. The first two phases were conducted online, while the final phase took place offline on the college campus. In the final round, 12 shortlisted teams presented their projects before the evaluation panel, presenting creativity, technical proficiency, and problem-solving abilities.

The participants received mentorship and guidance from Prof. Garima Tiwari, Prof. Abhilash Kumar Patel, and Dr Kumar Maharishi, who played a significant role in supporting and evaluating the teams throughout the competition. Mr Vikrant Choudhary, Founder of Suryavanshi Ventures, attended the event as the Chief Guest and also served as the sponsor of the hackathon. Principal Dr Rajeev Chandak said that such events should be organised regularly to encourage students and give them a strong platform to freely share their ideas and creativity.

In the final results, Team OSCorp secured the first position and was awarded a cash prize of ₹3,000. Kaplan Francis achieved the second position, receiving ₹2,000, while Team Tech King secured the third position with a prize of ₹1,000. All participants received certificates of participation, while the winning teams were honoured with trophies, goodies, and cash prizes. In addition, selected students were offered internship opportunities at Suryavanshi Ventures as a recognition of their hard work and talent.

The successful execution of the hackathon was largely supported by the dedicated efforts of the student coordinators—Shivam Mishra, Suraj Dubey, and Arpit Urmaliya—who contributed significantly to the planning, coordination, and management of the event. Overall, the hackathon provided a valuable platform for students to apply their technical knowledge, enhance their innovation skills, and gain practical exposure to real-world problem-solving.
